Mirko Mizzoni ( manufacturer and driver) is the Poleman of the 2023 FIA Kart World Championship.
Wackersdof – Germany. FIA Karting World Championship. It’s the event of the year. The competition is a crossroads between karting and the great engines of Formula 1. High caliber drivers from the current Formula 1 scene have passed and won on the German circuit.
The weekend is the right one and Italcorse and a great Mirko Mizzoni present themselves at the appointment in great shape but without the pressure of having to win. There are other favorites who immediately realize that the Italian and Lazio driver has not arrived to be an extra, but to be the protagonist. And Mirko doesn’t wait long. At the first opportunity he signed the Pole Position in the qualifying session on Friday afternoon with the amazing time of 46.294 which became the track record for the event category.
A prestigious and historic result for the Italcorse team who takes home one of the four trophies available in the queen category of the KZ2-Masters. The weekend continues on the wings of enthusiasm. Mizzoni is one of the favorite to win the final on Sunday. After the heats on Saturday and the warm up on Sunday morning where Mirko once again set the best race time, at 2.50pm all I ready for the last act of the weekend. Mizzoni starts from 4th position.
The pilot defends himself with his nails from attacks coming from behind. Unfortunately, he gets blocked by the Frenchman Mich who certainly has a slower pace than the Italian, but keeps him away from the leading duo. When there are only two laps left before the end of the 26, the irreparable arrives.
Mizzoni is ready to take the third step of the podium, which would have been another exceptional and deserved result, but he is thrown out of the race by the competitor following him who hits him in the rear. An hit that nullifies the enormous efforts of the Italcorse team and makes the incredible work of the entire Italian team disappear.
The satisfaction remains for Friday’s Pole. But also a lot of regret for a result that has almost been achieved and vanished for nothing.
